Have you been feeling like your life is just going by and you do not have time in your hands to do things you are passionate about? Most of us feel this way most of the time. We end up going through our day-to-day life without taking a moment to realize and ponder upon what we are doing and why we are doing it. Multiple times, in such a situation, one acts out in a fit of rage and ends up hurting multiple people along the way whilst affecting their own mental health.

What Is Mindfulness?

Being mindful is when you are completely aware of every thought, emotion and action in your life. You focus on the moment before reacting in haste. It is vital to practice mindfulness to ensure we have clarity on the multiple things that we are responsible for in our lives.

Here are some simple ways you can practice mindfulness -

Create Daily Goals

In our everyday lives, there are many instances where we feel completely overwhelmed with tasks, both personal and professional. We are constantly trying to achieve the work-life balance but we are only human. Instead of being hard on yourself being able to do something, focus on making daily task lists that will help you stay on track. Not to mention, ticking off the tasks throughout the day will definitely act as a mood booster.

Be Aware of Your Thoughts & Actions

It is important to understand your thought process in order to be fully aware your emotions. If you feel a strong emotion like anger, sadness, and if you know what thought or action has triggered the emotion, you will be able to deal with the situation better without acting in haste. Practicing this will help you face the a difficult situation differently and can drastically change your overall mood.

Meditate

Meditation has proven effective for multiple people. When you meditate, you are calm & your thoughts do not accelerate through your mind, and that helps you be aware of your emotions as well. If you are new to meditation, you can start with sitting in a quiet room, closing your eyes and just being aware of your breathing. You can start with 10 minutes of meditation and then increase it with each passing day.

Do What Brings You Joy

While work may take up most of your time, it is important to set time aside to do things that bring you joy. It can be anything - spending time with a loved one, cooking your favourite dish, going for walk, cleaning, workout etc. Prioritizing joy will make you value quality time. You will mindfully set aside time for doing things you love.
